The Story of Winston

Human Interest

Our house was too quiet. Our children were off at college and our last dog who lived 13 great years had passed one and a half years before.

Found at a Pet Store Rescue Event

On a Sunday in January I went to a rescue event at a local pet store and saw a small black and white puppy sitting alone in a large pen. I picked him up and never put him down again!

Border Collies Need a Job?

It turned out he was a Border Collie mix, and I was told Border Collie’s needed a job. A job? For our dog? Turns out Borders are a working, or herding breed, and they need engagement for their brain and energy. People I worked with trained dogs, and they suggested the sport of agility, where you and your dog together navigate a course with obstacles. And so a new journey in both our lives began…

10 Years of Adventure + New Best Friends

Ten years later, the little rescue puppy and I have learned so many skills together and shared wonderful adventures. We have competed for six years and reached master-level competition with many titles. The most wonderful part is we have met our best friends—both canine and human—along the way. Our minds and bodies have been exercised and stretched, and our lives enriched. And we are part of a supportive large community of people and dogs who love the excitement of being a team who train and learn together and cheer each other on, supporting their friends and dogs in training and in life.

A Vision to Share the Love

My vision is to help bring a canine training and educational facility to West Michigan in order to spread the passion, the learning, the excitement and fun to our area. Winston and I want to share this love with our community!
