Class Registration

General Information

  • Classes will take place Tuesday evenings from Jan 7th – Feb 11th, 2025 at  Cedar Rock Sportsplex (4758 Cornfield DR, Cedar Springs, MI 49319)
  • There will be 6 weeks of 1 hour sessions
  • Class Fee is $140 per dog and Floor Time (no instructor) is $120/dog
  • Class size is limited to 6 dogs per class. Pre-registration is required. Registration opens November 20th at 12:01am  and closes January 2nd (or when the class fills). Your registration will be confirmed via email when received.
  • Proof of the following vaccines are required: Rabies (for dogs 4 months and older), DA2PP (distemper, parvo, and canine adenovirus 1 & 2), and Bordetella.

  • Fill out the registration form with your dogs information. Please use 1 form per dog, per class. 
  • Read and sign the waiver
  • Mail the completed form, waiver, class fee (payable to WMDS), and vaccine records to:

Introduction to Rally

Instructor: Gin Brophy

Jan 7th – Feb 11th, 2025
Tuesdays 6:45 – 7:45 pm

Rally obedience is a great way to polish up your dog’s basic skills! This class will introduce most of the AKC Rally Novice level signs. Novice level skills include heeling, direction changes, sit, down, stay, front position, and finish. Your dog does not need to have all of these skills mastered to join!

Any age is welcome! Your dog should be comfortable working around other dogs and people. Bring lots of treats!

Introduction to Scent Work

Tuesdays 8:00 – 9:00 pm

Looking to channel your dog’s sniffing power into something productive? Join us for a 6 week introductory nosework class where your dog will learn to identify their first scent (birch). This class will focus on teaching your dog the basics of nosework and building their confidence with scent. Students will be provided with their own scent vessel to practice at home.

Any age is welcome! Your dog should be comfortable working around other dogs and people. Bring lots of treats! 

Foundations for Dog Sports

Instructor: Emma Tinklenberg

Tuesdays 4:15 – 5:15 pm

This class focuses on giving you the training tools to approach any dog sport with an emphasis on agility. Students will learn the fundamentals of dog training and communication, how to encourage engagement and promote work ethic, how to recognize and build drive, and safe ways to approach training especially when working in high speed sports. We will delve into training theory, but this will be an incredibly hands on class with lots of activities and games for the dogs.

No prerequisites. All ages welcome; training games will be adjusted to the age, health, and physical fitness of each individual dog.

Beginner Agility

Instructor: Emma Tinklenberg

Tuesdays 5:30 – 6:30 pm

This class will focus on introducing agility obstacles, teaching basic handling maneuvers, and encouraging engagement and focus between dog and handler. We will cover basics of dog training and communication, drive building, engagement, work ethic, and safe ways to teach and reinforce behaviors and skills. This will be a very hands on class with loads of activities and games for the dogs.

No prerequisites. All ages welcome; training games will be adjusted to the age, health, and physical fitness of each individual dog.

Advanced Beginner Agility

Instructor: Abby Klingberg

Jan 7th – Feb 11th, 2025
Tuesdays 5:30 – 6:30 pm

This class is for dog and handler teams who have had experience on the obstacles used on an agility course as well as basic handling skills, and are looking to build on these. Class will include practicing handling techniques and skill and drill development. Initial sequencing on a course will be part of your team’s development, connection and fun!

Prerequisites: Introduction to the obstacles used on an agility course and basic dog training foundations.

Intermediate Agility

Tuesdays 4:15 – 5:15 pm

If you are looking to improve your connection and teamwork, handling skills, weave pole performance and sequencing this class is for you! Moving toward full course runs will be the goal.

Prerequisites: Obstacle knowledge and performance, introduction to basic handling skills and weaves, beginning sequencing.

Advanced Agility

Instructor: Abby Klingberg

Jan 7th – Feb 11th, 2025
Tuesdays 6:45 – 7:45 pm

This class is for those able to perform all obstacles and weaves, and who have experience running full courses, or those currently competing in agility. Continue to advance your teamwork, skills, connection and confidence with walking and running courses!

Prerequisites: Full obstacle knowledge and experience running full courses.

Floor Time

Instructor: NONE

Jan 7th – Feb 11th, 2025
Tuesdays 8:00 – 9:00 pm

This class will not be instructor led, but will include a preset course at Master/Excellent level and students will take turns walking and running the course. This is a great opportunity to practice your course analysis and handling skills over the winter!

Prerequisites: Experience competing in agility
